Protein A
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009572
A surface protein produced by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that binds specifically and with high affinity to the Fc region of immunoglobulins, particularly IgG. This binding property makes protein A a widely used tool in immunology and biotechnology for the purification, detection, and immobilization of antibodies. It is commonly immobilized on chromatography resins.
