Ortho amides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008334
Compounds possessing a carbon atom attached to three amino groups or substituted amino groups, having the general structure RC(NR'2)3. They are the nitrogen analogues of ortho esters and ortho acids and are considered derivatives of amides. Ortho amides are reactive compounds used in organic synthesis, for example, in the formation of amidines or for the formylation of active methylene compounds.
