Hydroxamic acids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005496
Organic compounds characterized by the functional group R-CO-NH-OH, where R is an organic radical. These are N-hydroxy derivatives of amides, formally derived from carboxylic acids by replacing the hydroxyl group with an N-hydroxyamino group. They are known for their ability to chelate metal ions, forming stable complexes.
