Imino acids
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005609
Carboxylic acids bearing an imino group, =NH, in place of two hydrogens, a sense now discouraged, though the name is still applied to proline and related cyclic amino acids whose nitrogen is a secondary amine inside the ring, which makes it a misnomer. IUPAC regards the name as obsolete for imidic acids, RC(=NR)OH, which are tautomers of amides.
