Sulfonediimines

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011563

Compounds of the type R2S(=NR')2, formally derived from sulfones by replacing both oxygen atoms with imino groups, so that sulfur carries two organic groups and two doubly bonded nitrogen atoms and no oxygen. Diphenylsulfonediimine, Ph2S(=NH)2, is a simple example. Replacing only one oxygen of a sulfone by an imino group instead gives a sulfoximide.
