Sulfones
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011564
A class of organic compounds containing a sulfonyl functional group, -SO2-, where the sulfur atom is directly bonded to two carbon atoms. The sulfur atom in a sulfone is in its highest oxidation state, +6. Dimethyl sulfone is a simple example of this class of compounds.
