Pyrethroid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009696
A class of synthetic organic compounds structurally related to the natural pyrethrins, which are insecticides derived from chrysanthemum flowers. These compounds act as neurotoxins, primarily by disrupting the normal function of voltage-gated sodium channels in insect nerve cells. They are widely used in agriculture and public health for pest control due to their high efficacy and relatively low mammalian toxicity.
