Tetrodotoxin-insensitive

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011909

Describing voltage-gated sodium channels that are not blocked by the neurotoxin tetrodotoxin, indicating a structural difference in their pore region compared to tetrodotoxin-sensitive channels. These channels often exhibit distinct electrophysiological properties and are found in specific neuronal populations. For example, certain cardiac sodium channels are known to be tetrodotoxin-insensitive.
