Ion channelopathy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006074
A disease or disorder caused by a dysfunction in ion channels, which are proteins that regulate the flow of ions across cell membranes. These dysfunctions can arise from genetic mutations affecting the channel proteins or from autoimmune attacks against them. Such conditions often manifest as neurological, cardiac, or muscular symptoms, including epilepsy, cardiac arrhythmias, and myotonia.
