Channel opener

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001872

A type of drug or compound that facilitates or increases the flow of ions through specific ion channels in cell membranes. These molecules bind to the channel protein, promoting its opening or prolonging its open state, which enhances cellular excitability or signaling. Potassium channel openers, for instance, can cause vasodilation and are used in the treatment of hypertension.
