Channel blocker
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001871
A type of drug or compound that inhibits the flow of ions through specific ion channels in cell membranes. These molecules bind to the channel protein, preventing its normal function and thereby altering cellular excitability or signaling. Calcium channel blockers, for example, are used to treat hypertension and angina by reducing calcium influx into cardiac and smooth muscle cells.
