Entrance channel
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003963
The portion of a potential-energy surface that corresponds to the arrangement of reactants before they reach the region of close interaction or chemical transformation. It describes the energetic pathway as two or more reactant species approach each other from a large separation distance. The term is used in contrast to the exit channel, which describes the pathway for the separating products after the reaction.
