Reactant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013479
A chemical substance that undergoes transformation during a chemical reaction, leading to the formation of new products. Reactants are consumed as the reaction proceeds, and their initial concentrations influence the reaction rate. In a balanced chemical equation, reactants are typically written on the left side.
