Photosensitised reaction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008923
A photochemical reaction in which a substance, known as a photosensitizer, absorbs light and then transfers its excitation energy to a reactant molecule, which subsequently undergoes a chemical change. The photosensitizer itself is not consumed in the overall reaction. This process is distinct from direct photolysis where the reactant absorbs light directly.
