Electron transfer photosensitization

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003740

A process where a photosensitizer absorbs light and then undergoes an electron transfer reaction with another molecule, leading to the formation of radical ions. The photosensitizer itself is regenerated, allowing it to participate in further cycles. This mechanism is distinct from energy transfer photosensitization, where energy is transferred without electron exchange.
