Excitable cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004180
A cell capable of generating and propagating electrical signals, known as action potentials, in response to stimuli. This property is due to the presence of voltage-gated ion channels in their membranes, which allow rapid changes in membrane potential. Neurons and muscle cells are primary examples of excitable cells.
