Zig-zag projection
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012809
A two-dimensional representation of a carbon chain where the main chain is depicted in a zig-zag fashion, with substituents shown projecting above or below the plane of the chain. This projection is commonly used to illustrate the stereochemistry of acyclic molecules, particularly those with multiple chiral centers. It provides a clear visualization of the relative spatial arrangement of atoms.
