Dihedral angle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003207

The angle formed between two intersecting planes, used in chemistry to describe the conformation of a molecule. It is defined by four sequentially bonded atoms (A-B-C-D) as the angle between the plane containing atoms A-B-C and the plane containing atoms B-C-D. Also known as a torsion angle, its value ranges from 0° to 360° and is visualized using Newman projections.
