Angle of optical rotation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000598
The degree to which a substance rotates the plane of plane-polarized light as the light passes through it. This property is characteristic of chiral molecules and is measured using a polarimeter. The angle of rotation depends on the concentration of the chiral substance, the path length of the light, and the wavelength of the light used.
