Work softening

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012718

A phenomenon observed in certain materials where their resistance to deformation decreases after being subjected to mechanical work or strain. This reduction in resistance can be due to structural changes within the material, such as the breakdown of internal networks or the alignment of particles. It is distinct from thermal softening, which is caused by an increase in temperature.
