Thermionic work function
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011955
The minimum energy required to remove an electron from the surface of a solid into a vacuum, specifically when the electron emission is induced by thermal energy. This energy barrier is a characteristic property of a material and is typically measured in electron volts (eV). It is a key parameter in thermionic emission devices.
