Ionization energy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006126

The minimum energy required to remove an electron from an isolated atom or molecule in its ground state to form a cation. This quantity, also known as ionization potential, is a fundamental atomic property that influences chemical reactivity and bond formation. Ionization energy is typically expressed in units of electronvolts (eV) per atom or kilojoules per mole (kJ/mol).
