Ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006127

A protein expressed specifically in microglial cells and macrophages that is involved in the inflammatory response within the central nervous system. It functions as a calcium-binding protein and is upregulated during the activation of microglia, a key process in neuroinflammation following brain injury or disease. The detection of this molecule is widely used as a specific immunohistochemical marker to identify and quantify activated microglia in tissue samples.
