Microgliosis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007333
The proliferation and activation of microglial cells in response to central nervous system injury, infection, or disease. This process involves changes in microglial morphology, gene expression, and functional properties, leading to increased phagocytic activity and cytokine production. It is a hallmark of neuroinflammation and can be both protective and detrimental.
