Microglobulin

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007334

Any small globular protein of low molecular mass found in blood plasma and on cell surfaces, distinct from albumin. Beta-2 microglobulin, about 11.8 kDa, is the best known and forms the light chain of MHC class I molecules, whereas alpha-1 microglobulin is a larger plasma protein made mainly in the liver.
