Nuclear factor of activated T cells
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008098
A family of transcription factors that regulate the expression of cytokine genes and other genes involved in the immune response, particularly in T cells. Activation of these factors is dependent on calcium signaling, which triggers their dephosphorylation by the phosphatase calcineurin. This dephosphorylation exposes a nuclear localization signal, permitting the factor to translocate to the nucleus and bind to DNA.
