Growth factor

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005045

A naturally occurring substance, typically a protein or steroid hormone, capable of stimulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue repair. These factors bind to specific receptors on the cell surface, initiating intracellular signaling pathways that regulate cell growth and development. Many growth factors are involved in embryonic development and wound healing.
