Stress
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011472
The physiological or psychological response of an organism to a physical, chemical, or emotional factor, known as a stressor, that causes bodily or mental tension. In ecotoxicology, this response can be measured at the molecular, cellular, or organismal level following exposure to a toxicant. A common biomarker for physiological stress is the level of cortisol or corticosterone in the blood.
