Stress graphitization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011473
The process of converting non-graphitic carbon materials into graphitic structures under the combined influence of high temperature and applied mechanical stress. The stress promotes the alignment of carbon layers, facilitating the formation of a more ordered, graphitic lattice. This method is used to produce high-strength carbon fibers.
