High-pressure graphitization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005299
A heat treatment of non-graphitic carbon carried out under elevated pressure, around 100 to 1000 MPa, which develops graphitic order further at a lower temperature or with a shorter hold than at atmospheric pressure. The pressure is far below the roughly 5 to 6 GPa used for diamond synthesis.
