Graphitization heat treatment

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013138

A high-temperature thermal process applied to carbon materials to induce the formation of graphitic structures. This treatment involves heating the material to temperatures above 2000 °C, often under inert atmosphere or vacuum. The process causes the disordered carbon atoms to rearrange into ordered hexagonal layers characteristic of graphite, increasing electrical conductivity and thermal stability.
