Synthetic graphite

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011769

A form of graphite produced artificially from carbonaceous precursors, such as petroleum coke or coal tar pitch, through high-temperature treatment. The manufacturing process involves graphitization, where amorphous carbon is converted into a highly ordered crystalline structure. This material is widely used in electrodes, lubricants, and as a neutron moderator.
