Pyrolytic graphite

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009710

A highly ordered form of graphite produced by the thermal decomposition of hydrocarbon gases at high temperatures, typically above 2000 degrees Celsius, under controlled conditions. It exhibits a high degree of preferred orientation, with the graphene layers aligned parallel to the deposition surface. This material possesses anisotropic properties, including high thermal and electrical conductivity along the basal planes.
