Exfoliated graphite
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004205
A form of graphite produced by the rapid expansion of graphite intercalation compounds, typically through heating. This process causes the graphite layers to separate and buckle, resulting in a low-density, high-surface-area material. It finds applications in fire retardants, seals, and as a precursor for graphene production.
