Intercalation compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005927
Materials formed by the reversible insertion of guest molecules or ions into the layered structure of a host material, without causing substantial disruption to the host's framework. The guest species occupy the spaces between the layers, leading to changes in the host's physical and chemical properties. Graphite intercalation compounds, for instance, exhibit altered electrical conductivity.
