Graphite material
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005007
A substance primarily composed of graphitic carbon, characterized by its layered structure where carbon atoms are arranged in hexagonal rings within each layer. These layers are weakly bonded, allowing for easy cleavage and lubrication. It is widely used in electrodes, lubricants, and as a moderator in nuclear reactors.
