Exfoliation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004206

The process of separating individual layers from a layered material, such as a clay mineral or graphite, to produce single or few-layer sheets. This can be achieved through mechanical, chemical, or thermal methods. Exfoliation is a key step in preparing polymer nanocomposites with enhanced properties.
