Pyrromethenes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009711
Organic compounds characterized by a methine bridge connecting two pyrrole rings, forming a conjugated system. These molecules are often colored and can act as ligands, coordinating to metal ions. They serve as structural motifs in natural products like bilirubin and are precursors to porphyrins and other macrocycles.
