Coal-derived pitch coke
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002154
A type of coke produced by the carbonization of coal tar pitch, a byproduct of coal processing. This material is characterized by its high carbon content and often exhibits a highly anisotropic microstructure due to the liquid crystalline nature of the pitch mesophase during carbonization. It is primarily used as a raw material for manufacturing graphite electrodes and other carbon products.
