Electrographite

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003684

A form of synthetic graphite produced by heating carbonaceous materials to very high temperatures, typically above 2500 °C, in an electric resistance furnace. This high-temperature treatment causes the carbon atoms to rearrange into a highly ordered graphitic structure. Electrographite is used in electrodes for arc furnaces and as a brush material in electric motors.
