Plasma arc
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009006
A high-temperature electric discharge generated between two electrodes, or between an electrode and a workpiece, within a gas stream. The intense heat of the arc ionizes the gas, creating a plasma that can be used for cutting, welding, or spraying materials. Temperatures within a plasma arc can reach tens of thousands of Kelvin.
