Baking
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001101
A heat treatment process applied to carbonaceous materials, particularly carbon mixes, to convert a binder material into binder coke. This process typically involves heating to temperatures between 800 °C and 1300 °C in an inert atmosphere. Baking increases the mechanical strength and electrical conductivity of the carbon artifact by carbonizing the binder.
