Binder coke

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001226

The carbonaceous residue formed from the pyrolysis of a binder material during the baking process of a carbon mix. This coke acts to cement together the filler particles in a carbon artifact, contributing significantly to its mechanical strength, density, and electrical conductivity. Its properties are influenced by the type of binder and the baking conditions.
