Oxidant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008389
A chemical substance that accepts electrons from another species in a redox reaction, thereby becoming reduced itself. In atmospheric chemistry, oxidants are reactive species that drive the chemical transformation of pollutants. Key atmospheric oxidants include the hydroxyl radical (OH), ozone (O3), the nitrate radical (NO3), and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
