Peroxides

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013384

Chemical compounds containing a peroxide group, which is a single bond between two oxygen atoms (-O-O-). These compounds are characterized by the oxidation state of -1 for each oxygen atom. Organic peroxides, such as hydroperoxides and dialkyl peroxides, are often used as initiators in polymerization reactions.
