Molozonides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007531
Unstable five-membered cyclic peroxides, 1,2,3-trioxolanes, that are the primary products of ozone adding across a carbon-carbon double bond. The ring holds a chain of three oxygen atoms linking the two former alkene carbons. They are also called primary ozonides and fragment rapidly into a carbonyl compound and a carbonyl oxide, which recombine to the more stable 1,2,4-trioxolane ozonide.
