Ozonides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008412
Cyclic organic compounds formed as intermediates in the ozonolysis reaction of alkenes. They contain a five-membered ring with three oxygen atoms and two carbon atoms. Primary ozonides, also known as molozonides, are unstable and rapidly rearrange to form secondary ozonides, which are then cleaved to carbonyl compounds.
