Phytotoxicant

A chemical substance that is poisonous or causes damaging effects to plants, inhibiting growth or causing death. These substances can be natural compounds produced by other organisms or synthetic chemicals introduced into the environment. Examples of atmospheric phytotoxicants include ground-level ozone, sulfur dioxide, and peroxyacetyl nitrate (PAN), which can damage leaf tissue and reduce crop yields.
