Phytotoxic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008960
Describing a substance that is poisonous or harmful to plants, causing effects such as inhibited growth, tissue damage, or death. Phytotoxicity can result from exposure to herbicides, heavy metals, pollutants, or even excessive concentrations of certain nutrients. The degree of toxicity is often assessed by measuring endpoints like seed germination rates, root elongation, or biomass reduction in standardized plant species.
