Chemical oxygen demand
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001956
A measure of the amount of oxygen required to chemically oxidize organic and inorganic pollutants in a water sample using a strong chemical oxidant. It indicates the total quantity of oxygen-consuming substances present, providing an assessment of water quality. The result is typically expressed in milligrams of oxygen consumed per liter of sample.
